Marin Agricultural Land Trust

While at FCB, I got to develop and present some options to a pro-bono client, The Marin Agricultural Land Trust. Through their funding, Marin maintains it’s small local farms and keeps the independent farmer employed.

Interviewing farmers and learning more about The Fund was a great experience. One of the original farms involved with the organization was The Straus Family Creamery, an organic dairy farm with roots in Marin since the 1940’s. Meeting and spending time with Ellen Straus gave us great insight into the rich farm culture that was, and still is, at risk of losing itself to impeding development. With MALT on board, small farms are able to sustain themselves and avoid subdivision. Below, some work we shared with the organization that represents the “rip and replace” nature of housing developments on a visceral level. The copy in the ads reads: “It doesn’t always take a natural disaster to alter an entire region. Sometimes it only takes a few land developers. Before any more time and land run out, support the Marin Agricultural Land Trust by becoming a member or making a contribution. We’re not asking you to save the world, just yours.” I also developed a logo and a fitting tagline for the presentation.
